At 49, Sandra Bullock’s looking better than ever lately. She looks confident, healthy and happy – proving that being almost 50 is awesome. She’s also been nailing every one of her red carpet looks while doing press for Gravity over the last couple months. Late last week she attended a Q&A session for her hit movie rocking a black leather pencil skirt, a chic black top with lace sleeves and a pair of black pointy toe stilettos. It’s a simple, good-looking outfit.

A black leather pencil skirt is a popular item to have this fall and winter. It’s sexy and chic, and can easily go from day to night. Sandra’s skirt is by The Row ($1,850) and is available on net-a-porter. But it’s not hard to find a similar skirt in a more affordable price range. Below are a few options in various price ranges, including a sheep leather skirt from Zara (only $139), a side-slit leather skirt from LaMarque ($396) and a sheep leather skirt with interesting seaming details from Reiss ($435).

I’m also into the black top with sheer sleeves. It feminine, fresh and functional (the alliteration was unintentional but totally works!), because you can wear it with a skirt, dress pants or skinny jeans. I can’t find the exact top Sandra’s wearing but some similar looks are below, including a ¾ length sheer lace sleeve top from French Connection that’s almost identical to Sandra’s ($118), a scoop neckline top with mesh sleeves from Theory ($255) and a semi-sheer lace ¾ length sleeve top from Joie (on sale for $180) – all of which would look super cool with a black leather pencil skirt.

I’ll happily continue to keep my eye on Sandra for more style inspiration. You know you’re a fruit when…
