At my recent birthday party (that makes me sounds about 8 years old), a super stylish and lovely friend showed up in the coolest silver Saint Laurent sneakers. I’m a sucker for anything metallic and cool sneakers, and everything this friend wears is awesome so of course I loved them. It got me thinking about fancy sneakers and their growing popularity.
We’ve definitely seen them on stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna but lately more and more stylish people are embracing the look. And now all the major luxury labels like Chanel , Gucci, Lanvin, Valentino and Saint Laurent, Louboutin, have been adding fancy sneakers to their collections.
The key to this trend is not to overdo it. And if you’re going to do the shiny sneaker thing, I’d stay away from the platform ones. Not sure they work on anyone other than someone like Gwen Stefani. And metallic kicks (I love using that term but try not to overdo it) aren’t just for women. Dudes can totally rock them too. I have a pair of silver Chuck Taylor’s that are pretty damn cool – if I do say so myself.
