By now everyone knows that over the weekend, super respected international human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin married eternal bachelor George Clooney in Venice. And it was fancy. Like really, really fancy. Although we have yet to see any photos inside the actual event Saturday night, Amal and George definitely gave the public what they wanted: an old school glamourous Hollywood wedding at the luxurious Aman Canal Grande Venice hotel (SEVEN STARS) in Venice.
Now to the awesome array of wedding fashion. Alamuddin started off the weekend on Friday in super chic black and white stripe Dolce & Gabbana dress, giving off a very Jackie O-vibe with dark round sunglasses. It was a lovely way to start off such a momentous occasion with such high expectations. For the pre-wedding dinner, she wore and incredible custom Alexandre McQueen dress with a dramatic train that was super glamourous and couldn’t have been better suited to the dark-haired stunner (the dress also reminded me of a similar Alexandre McQueen gown Michelle Obama wore to a state dinner in 2010). And it looked so cool when friends were holding the train for her as she got on the water taxi.

Following the wedding, the next say Alamuddin stepped out in a show-stopping totally beautiful cream colored lace Giambattista Valli couture dress, embellished with pink floral detail and which showed off her long legs. It was a beautiful (and very appropriate) choice to wear the day after one of the fanciest parties of the year. Finally, for the official civil ceremony on Sunday, Alamuddin chose a custom white sleeveless Stella McCartney jumpsuit paired with a matching hat. It was a simple, lovely and timeless look.

And Alamuddin definitely wasn’t the only one who stunned the crowds. The elite group of guests also came to play. Honestly, it was like an award show. And people just look fancy and glamourous traveling in vintage water taxis in gowns and tuxes down the Venice canal. Below are a few style standouts.
Anna Wintour wore a glam black, grey and pink dress with a fur stole and sunglasses (of course).
Emily Blunt wore a very cool turquoise and jeweled embellished Pucci gown.
Cindy Crawford glamed it up a semi-sheer, cobalt-blue dress with beautiful and intricate draping and pleats.
So, what about the actual wedding dress, itself? The photos were released today (below) and it was Oscar de la Renta as previously announced. Of course, it’s a beautiful dress (French lace and hand-embroidered with pearls and crystal accents) but I was a little surprised at how traditional it was. Like after all the interesting and chic looks we saw throughout the wedding weekend, it seemed almost underwhelming. But Amal still looked incredible. Obviously she has style on top of a super successful and admired career. Clooney is one lucky dude.
