With the theme of the Met’s 2019 Costume Exhibition being “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” we knew this was going to be a especially fun year for watching the Met Gala arrivals. Camp style is essentially defined as irreverent, tacky, ironic, fabulous, over-the-top and exaggerated style. Stars like Lady Gaga, no stranger to camp fashion, did not disappoint. Her Met Gala entrance is one of the most theatrical ever (next to Rihanna’s many legendary appearances). And although many fashion watchers were upset Rihanna was a no-show this year, Gaga and the legendary Joan Collins won the night. The 70th Emmy Awards took place last night and they were the lowest rated ever – no shocker there. But luckily many of the stars (and their talented stylists) came to play in some memorable looks.  We all know the Emmys aren’t the Met Gala or the Oscars but these days, with the power of Hollywood’s top stylists, most celebs don’t take any red carpet lightly. Fashion’s biggest night never disappoints. The annual fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute is hands down the most exclusive event of the year – many consider it the most elitist event in the world. Tickets start at a staggering $30,000 and Anna Wintour oversees and approves every person who attends. So basically if Anna doesn’t like you, you’re not going.
