Lady Gaga & Joan Collins Win The Met Gala Red Carpet

With the theme of the Met’s 2019 Costume Exhibition being “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” we knew this was going to be a especially fun year for watching the Met Gala arrivals. Camp style is essentially defined as irreverent, tacky, ironic, fabulous, over-the-top and exaggerated style. Stars like Lady Gaga, no stranger to camp fashion, did not disappoint. Her Met Gala entrance is one of the most theatrical ever (next to Rihanna’s many legendary appearances). And although many fashion watchers were upset Rihanna was a no-show this year, Gaga and the legendary Joan Collins won the night. Oscars Fashion Recap And Billy Porter’s Cher Moment

Oscars 2019
Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Gemma Chan and Charlize Theron at the 2019 Oscars.

After all the hype and controversy surrounding the Oscars this year, I expected something…well…unexpected. A surprise host or a group of former Oscars winners making an appearance on stage together but none of that happened. It was relatively tame show except for Olivia Colman winning over Glenn Close and Green Book taking best picture. But there were some highlights on the red carpet this year – some drama and so much pink! Also, can we all be thankful for Billy Porter? For making the kind of entrance we were anticipating from Lady Gaga. Now on to the clothes. Continue reading “Oscars Fashion Recap And Billy Porter’s Cher Moment”

Emmys Style Recap – Boring Show, Some Impressive Dresses

Emmys Best Dressed.png
Sarah Paulson, Thandie Newton, Keri Russell and Jessica Biel on the Emmys Red Carpet.

The 70th Emmy Awards took place last night and they were the lowest rated ever – no shocker there. But luckily many of the stars (and their talented stylists) came to play in some memorable looks.  We all know the Emmys aren’t the Met Gala or the Oscars but these days, with the power of Hollywood’s top stylists, most celebs don’t take any red carpet lightly. My top style pics of the night are below, along with a couple of slight misses and one rather unfortunate look.  Continue reading “Emmys Style Recap – Boring Show, Some Impressive Dresses”

Met Gala Recap – Clothes And Catholicism

Met Gala Best Dressed 2018
Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Janelle Monáe and Amber Heard at the 2018 Met Gala

Fashion’s biggest night never disappoints. The annual fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute is hands down the most exclusive event of the year – many consider it the most elitist event in the world. Tickets start at a staggering $30,000 and Anna Wintour oversees and approves every person who attends. So basically if Anna doesn’t like you, you’re not going. This year’s theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” explores the innate connection between fashion and religion. Continue reading “Met Gala Recap – Clothes And Catholicism”

Oscar Fashion Recap: JANE FONDA IS 80!

2018 Oscars best dressed
Nicole Kidman, Lupita Nyong’o, Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lawrence at the 2018 Oscars

Just like I predicted, once again Nicole Kidman and Jane Fonda stole the show. Red carpets are better when either one of them grace us with their presence. Thankfully they both showed up to the 90th annual award show – and they came to play. Because it was a special anniversary, lots of stars showed up including many Hollywood veterans. I had no doubt some we were going to be in for some incredible and memorable looks. From Kidman in Armani Privé to Fonda in Balmain to Nyong’o in Atelier Versace, last night’s red carpet had a bit of everything and gave us a few looks fashion lovers won’t forget.  Continue reading “Oscar Fashion Recap: JANE FONDA IS 80!”

Golden Globes 2018 – Red Carpet Recap

Golden Globes 2018
Nicole Kidman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Margo Robbie and Zoe Kravitz at the 2018 Golden Globes.

This year’s Golden Globes red carpet was unlike any other. Nearly all attendees wore black and it made for a powerful statement standing in solidarity with #TimesUp to protest discrimination and sexual harassment against women. While the ladies were for the first time ever all in the same colour on the red carpet, they still added their own stylistic touch and stood out in their own unique way. Because this year’s silent protest was for an important cause, a typical red carpet review doesn’t seem appropriate so I’ve included the looks I thought stood out the most.  Continue reading “Golden Globes 2018 – Red Carpet Recap”

2017’s Most Memorable Red Carpet Looks

Best Dresses 2017
Nicole Kidman, Celine Dion, Tracee Ellis Ross, Cindy Crawford & Naomi Campbell

As we all know, 2017 has been quite the year. But in spite of the constant onslaught of bad news, on the lighter side, there were some memorable red carpets looks. Like I do annually, here’s a look-back at some of the year’s most impressive or talked-about style moments. Celine Dion, Tracee Ellis Ross, Nicole Kidman and (my girl) Cindy Crawford all had a solid style year.  Continue reading “2017’s Most Memorable Red Carpet Looks”

Stars Step Up Their Style Game at TIFF

TIFF Best Dressed
Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Rosamund Pike and Julianne Moore in Toronto at TIFF

After more than 40 years, TIFF has proved to be a major force in terms star power – and style statements. Practically everyone shows up. They all seem to love Toronto. As the importance of the festival continues to skyrocket, so do the memorable fashion moments. Although I didn’t get to see many stars in person (except for Drake), here’s a rundown of some of the most talked about looks. Once again, Nicole Kidman remains the one to watch. That Valentino retro multi-patterned dress was killer.  Continue reading “Stars Step Up Their Style Game at TIFF”

Emmys Red Carpet Recap and Jane Fonda’s Ponytail

Emmys 2017 Best Dressed
Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Tracee Ellis Ross and Gabrielle Union at the 69th Emmy Awards

Some years are more exciting than others, and this year’s Emmy red carpet definitely impressed with many memorable looks. For example, as if we don’t be talking about Jane Fonda’s ponytail for years. And I loved seeing so many legendary veteran actresses totally slay it on the red carpet looking better than ever. Along with Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lang, Michelle Pfeiffer and Judith Light all stunned and showed their much younger acting counterparts how it’s done. A great dress paired with experience and confidence is hard to beat. Here’s a rundown of some of this year’s most talked about looks.

Cannes Film Festival Fashion Recap – Nicole Kidman Wins. Again and Again.

Cannes Best Dressed 2017
The best of Cannes 2017: Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Tracee Ellis Ross & Kidman again.

Always one of the best red carpets of the year, the Cannes Film Festival is like no other. The French Riviera is all about excess and this is a place where the stars aren’t afraid to play dress up and are willing to look extra luxurious & extravagant. The only rules at Cannes are that subtlety is not allowed and to always think of Joan Collins (in her Dynasty days) and Elizabeth Taylor as inspiration. Next to the Met Gala, this is the most exciting red carpet of the year.  Continue reading “Cannes Film Festival Fashion Recap – Nicole Kidman Wins. Again and Again.”
