After all the hype and controversy surrounding the Oscars this year, I expected something…well…unexpected. A surprise host or a group of former Oscars winners making an appearance on stage together but none of that happened. It was relatively tame show except for Olivia Colman winning over Glenn Close and Green Book taking best picture. But there were some highlights on the red carpet this year – some drama and so much pink! Also, can we all be thankful for Billy Porter? I think many of us can agree this year’s Oscars weren’t the most exciting – that includes the red carpet and the show itself. As we discussed on CTV Morning Live when I appeared for the annual Oscar style recap segment, there were some debatable looks but it didn’t feel like there were many that were universally loved. At least we can be thankful for Heidi Klum – and her unfortunate choices. When I was a teenager, every year I anxiously waited for InStyle‘s annual list of the best dresses of the year. I often agreed and more often disagreed, and thought of all the looks they missed. Now it’s cool to be able to make my own annual list. In 2015, we saw many impressive and memorable looks and, as always, some unfortunate ones (looking at you Heidi Klume). But let’s focus on the positive. Like Rihanna. And Amal Clooney.
