Fancy sweatshirts were for sure one of the biggest trends in 2013. We saw them frequently on stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna, and they were prominently featured on the runways for Spring ready-to-wear 2014 (Marc Jacobs, Libertine, Aalexander Wang, Mary Katrantzou and Antonio Berardi), which means we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in 2014. There are endless possibilities for this look and the prices definitely range from reasonable to completely outrageous. Beyoncé’s incredible Givenchy printed sweatshirt with sequin sleeves retailed for $2,395 but it’s no longer available. Can you imagine paying $2,400 for a sweatshirt?! Not a concern for Beyoncé.
Interestingly, the look has now become so popular that some fashion sites, like Net-A-Porter, now have a category specifically for sweatshirts (fancy ones). After some searching, I’ve found a few good options that are super cool and much more affordable than the more luxurious Givenchy versions. Trust me – a fancy sweatshirt is a fun, cool way to introduce something new into your wardrobe for 2014.
