Solid white looks are definitely growing in popularity and for good reason. The clean slate trend is fresh, light and cool. There’s a also soft simplicity about the look that’s feminine but modern at the same time. An all white look also works for many different occasions and various levels of dressiness. The current trend for all white looks was especially evident recently at the Cannes Film Festival where numerous stars chose the light monochromatic look for both evening and more casual events during the day.
For more formal events, a white gown can be stunning and when done correctly, almost regal. Like the beautiful one-shoulder Ralph Lauren Collection gown Cate Blanchett wore recently to a dinner in England (of course she was styled perfectly with a simple clutch and long rock crystal chandelier earrings). If you’re not into something so formal, well cut skinny pants with a light shear white blouse, like on Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad, is a super chic look that’s flattering as well as striking. A simple white shift dress is also a good option (as seen on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Victoria Beckham) and is a softer take on the LBD. But if you want to do the look in a more casual way, skinny white jeans and a plain white top (like on Nicole Richie) is an easy way to achieve the clean slate trend.
Because it’s become so popular, cool white clothing is increasingly easier to find. Stores like Club Monaco and Top Shop both have pretty big selection of white apparel. And so do a couple of my favourite shopping sites, net-a-porter.com and theoutnet.com. Some good looking (and a few well priced) options are below.
I want to be Cate b. especially in this dress!
