There’s no place like Holt Renfrew. Their selection of designer goods is unmatched in Canada and continually impresses me. So when I heard they were having an exclusive designer evening gown pop-up, I had to check it out. And I’m glad I did. Because I’ve always loved the excessive glamour popular back in the Dynasty days (Alexis Carrington will forever be a fashion icon) and these gowns were reminiscent of that level of opulence.
Model and star blogger Ania B was around to model some of the beautiful gowns featured at the two day event. When I stopped by, she was stunning in an unbelievable Monique Lhuillier black lace fitted jumpsuit with a detachable floor length tulle skirt – it was amazing (not a word I use often). Other luxury labels included Prabal Gurung, J. Mendel, Marchesa and Naeem Khan (one of Jennifer Lopez’s favourite designers), and popular Canadian designers such as Wayne Clark and Marie Saint Pierre brought some over-the-top glamour to Canada’s only luxury department store. These dresses were incredible. The pop-up event travelled across Holt Renfrew’s largest stores this week, beginning in Vancouver moving to Calgary and Toronto and ending its run in Montreal. Holt’s famous selection of accessories evening bags, shoes and super fancy jewellery – were well-chosen to accompany the dress collection.
Many of the evening gowns are only available through special order, which makes sense because dresses this show-stopping aren’t usually available off-the-rack. Holts is planning on having the evening gown pop-up event once a season so if you didn’t get a chance to check it out this time, make sure you do in the fall. Because who doesn’t love looking at fancy dresses?! We all do.
