Julia Dunstall Returns to Modeling in New Dean Davidson Campaign

DD Sping campaign
Top Model Julia Dunstall in new spring campaign for Dean Davidson

One of the best parts of working for Dean Davidson (a growing Canadian jewelry company), is the chance to work on many cool projects. And one of my favourites is being involved in shooting the new campaigns. It’s fun – and you feel fancy, in a behind-the-scenes kind of way. As Dean’s brand continues to grow, this season’s new campaign was designed to represent the elevation of his brand and how the line, which began in 2007, is entering a new era.  Continue reading “Julia Dunstall Returns to Modeling in New Dean Davidson Campaign”

Mobilia’s award winning booth at the 2017 Interior Design Show (IDS)

As a lover of all things fancy, I’m always giddy to check out the latest and greatest in interior design trends. So when the Interior Design Show (IDS) returns year after year to Toronto, I’m there. Recently back for its 19th year, IDS was the place to be for all design lovers. As always, the annual event showcased the best and latest in Canadian and international design, including an endless amount of chic and luxurious interior design trends. And the clear standout this year was the new Roaring Twenties-inspired collection by Mobilia created in collaboration with Canadian design personality Janette Ewen.  It’s legendary and I want everything.  Continue reading “Mobilia’s New Collection Shines at the Interior Design Show”

Dramatic looks from Canadian designer Paul Hardy’s Spring Summer 2017 collection.

Thumbs up to Yorkdale and CAFA (Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards) for coming to the fashion rescue this week after Toronto Fashion Week was abruptly cancelled this past July. Yorkdale put on the first ever FashionCAN to give media, buyers and fashion lovers the opportunity to see the upcoming Spring Summer 2017 collections from many of their favourite Canadian designers, including Calgary’s Paul Hardy and Toronto’s Lucian Matis. And like we’ve scene from many international runway shows recently, the invitation-only event was live streamed so those that didn’t get an invite could see the show live as it was happening.  Continue reading “Canadian Designers Present Spring Summer 2017 Collections at Inaugural FashionCAN”

Greta Constantine, the popular Toronto-based fashion line, closed Toronto Fashion Week recently with a bang as the design duo celebrated their 10th anniversary with an memorable runway presentation. Designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong left the audience in awe as they put on the most exciting and high-energy show of the week. It was a pleasure to attend and witness such a fun and empowered collection. The marching band that closed the show with their rendition of Pharrel’s Happy was particularly cool, and literally had the crowd dancing in their seats.   Continue reading “Greta Constantine Celebrates 10 Fashion-Forward Years”

Andy Warhol: Revisited

Casey Wagar 2015
Checking out the iconic Marilyn Monroe portraits at the exhibit.

Like most pop-art admirers, I’ve been a fan of Andy Warhol for as long as I can remember. His contribution to the world of pop-art is legendary and many of his paintings are iconic pieces of pop culture. If you appreciate his work, Andy Warhol: Revisited, a museum-style pop-up exhibition in Toronto should not be missed.  Continue reading “Andy Warhol: Revisited”

Swarovski Gets Colourful with Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

Everyone knows Swarovski is synonymous with sparkle. They’re pretty much the masters of it. I recently had the opportunity to preview Swarovski’s new Spring/Summer collection, called Sea of Sparke, at the ultra-chic Four Seasons in Toronto and it was definitely a pleasure.  Because ever since I was little, I’ve always been drawn the elaborate and sparkly jewels (hence why Elizabeth Taylor’s book My Love Affair with Jewelry will always be one of my favourite coffee table books and Dynasty still remains a source of style inspiration). WMCFW Spring 2016 collections took place last week and many of the shows were not only impressive but also a good reminder of the huge amount of creativity and talent among Canadian designers today. I had the pleasure of seeing Pink Tartan, Mackage and Mikael D and each collection had impressive elements that got the crowd talking. The designers behind the three popular labels also proved they know how to design with their customer in mind while also introducing new elements to continually keep it interesting.

FANCY Evening Gown Pop-Up at Holts

The exclusive evening gown trunk show at Calgary’s Holt Renfrew.

There’s no place like Holt Renfrew. Their selection of designer goods is unmatched in Canada and continually impresses me. So when I heard they were having an exclusive designer evening gown pop-up, I had to check it out. And I’m glad I did. Because I’ve always loved the excessive glamour popular back in the Dynasty days (Alexis Carrington will forever be a fashion icon) and these gowns were reminiscent of that level of opulence.  Continue reading “FANCY Evening Gown Pop-Up at Holts”

Holt Renfrew Kicks Off Calgary Stampede With Holts Hats Off

Holts Hats Off
Some of the chic Stampede looks on the magenta runway for the western-inspired fashion show.

In anticipation of this year’s Calgary Stampede, Holt Renfrew recently held its second annual Holts Hats Off event by teaming up with a super impressive group of talented Canadian designers to benefit the Calgary Health Trust. Designers, including Anzie, my good buddy Dean Davidson, Mackage, Tanya Taylor (who’s so lovely and now based in NYC), Ron White, Naked & Famous and Marie Saint Pierre, created one-of-a-kind Smithbilt cowboy hats to be auctioned during the private charity shopping event. This year, the live auction was hosted by Etalk’s Ben Mulroney, who charmed the crowd and helped raise a considerable amount for charity.  Continue reading “Holt Renfrew Kicks Off Calgary Stampede With Holts Hats Off”
