Mobilia’s award winning booth at the 2017 Interior Design Show (IDS)

As a lover of all things fancy, I’m always giddy to check out the latest and greatest in interior design trends. So when the Interior Design Show (IDS) returns year after year to Toronto, I’m there. Recently back for its 19th year, IDS was the place to be for all design lovers. As always, the annual event showcased the best and latest in Canadian and international design, including an endless amount of chic and luxurious interior design trends. And the clear standout this year was the new Roaring Twenties-inspired collection by Mobilia created in collaboration with Canadian design personality Janette Ewen.  It’s legendary and I want everything.

Design companies from all of the world showcase their products and services at IDS and there were some impressive exhibitors but I wasn’t at all surprised that Mobilia won the coveted Best Booth Design award. It was well deserved and a true standout.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the popular Montreal-based furniture and home accessory company recruited Ewen to help design and curate a collection that represented her tasteful and chic aesthetic – one that’s helped her become one of Canada’s most popular interior stylists.

It’s easy to see how the collection celebrates luxury and joie de vivre. The rich colours, smooth velvets, metallic accents and geometric patterns have an Art Deco vibe that are sure to be admired by any design lover who appreciates the iconic and timeless style of that legendary time period. While predominantly comprised of furniture pieces, home accessories and lighting, the grouping also include items like greeting cards and notebooks (which I have and love), and easy-to-frame posters (which I MUST have).

It was hard to chose but two of my favourite pieces were the black and white lacquer vanity (below), including a pop-up mirror that when opened leaves specially separated velvet lined spaces for your favourite jewellery pieces – perfect for all my bracelets! I also loved the black glass and brass round dining table with coordinating four-piece ottoman set (also below). Can you imagine sitting there with your gals and gays, having martinis and discussing the latest and best red carpet looks?! That’s immediately what came to mind.

Check out more from the Roaring Twenties collections from Mobilia below. Congrats Janette and the Mobilia team on such a coveted collection and the success at IDS! Now I really need to redecorate…

Thanks for the photos Katherine Beaulieu and thanks to the team at Faulhaber Communications for having me again this year.
