DD Sping campaign
Top Model Julia Dunstall in new spring campaign for Dean Davidson

One of the best parts of working for Dean Davidson (a growing Canadian jewelry company), is the chance to work on many cool projects. And one of my favourites is being involved in shooting the new campaigns. It’s fun – and you feel fancy, in a behind-the-scenes kind of way. As Dean’s brand continues to grow, this season’s new campaign was designed to represent the elevation of his brand and how the line, which began in 2007, is entering a new era.

To help represent his most elegant women’s collection yet, Dean worked with his friend and well-known modeling agent and Mode Models founder & president Kelly Streit to find the perfect model. After Kelly suggested Julia Dunstall, who recently returned to modeling, we knew right away she was the perfect choice to star in this season’s campaign.

Since breaking out onto the modeling scene in 2005 (after being requested for a shoot by famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel), Dunstall’s had an impressive and successful career. Throughout the years she’s starred in campaigns for Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, D&G, Costume National, Gap and Benneton, among others. She’s also walked countless runways for international fashion houses like Balenciaga, Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci. A long time editorial favourite, Dunstall’s starred in shoots for every major international fashion publication.

After spending 11 years in NYC, Dunstall left the modeling world a few years ago to travel and just recently decided to make a comeback. We were thrilled to be her first campaign as she returns to the modeling world. A true pro with a world of experience, it was a pleasure to work with Dunstall. And she’s as lovely and kind as she is great at modeling (she nailed every single shot).

Thanks to an amazing team, including Dunstall, photographer Malina Corpadean, stylist George Antonopoulos and hair and makeup artist Natalie Ventola for bringing this all together. It’s cool to see what can happen when such a talented group of people come together.  These are experiences working in the fashion industry, I’ll never forget. Check out some behind-the-scenes below. Go team!
