Fashion’s biggest night never disappoints. The annual fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute is hands down the most exclusive event of the year – many consider it the most elitist event in the world. Tickets start at a staggering $30,000 and Anna Wintour oversees and approves every person who attends. So basically if Anna doesn’t like you, you’re not going. This year’s theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” explores the innate connection between fashion and religion. Continue reading “Met Gala Recap – Clothes And Catholicism”

Golden Globes Red Carpet Recap – Sequins, Metalics & Pharrel’s Beanie

Year after year, the Golden Globes continue to be one of the best red carpets of the year. Everyone is so nervous at the Oscars, few are willing to take major chances and make brave style statements (except for Cate Blanchett of course). But I feel like stars are more relaxed at the Globes so they’re more comfortable wearing looks that express their personalities as opposed to having to abide by strict fashion rules. This year there were quite a few stellar looks. And during a year when the host (not Jimmy Fallon’s best moment) was less than memorable, we were lucky to have some amazingly good, and a couple of amazingly bad, looks to review. Here it goes… Continue reading “Golden Globes Red Carpet Recap – Sequins, Metalics & Pharrel’s Beanie”

I think many of us can agree this year’s Oscars weren’t the most exciting – that includes the red carpet and the show itself. As we discussed on CTV Morning Live when I appeared for the annual Oscar style recap segment, there were some debatable looks but it didn’t feel like there were many that were universally loved. At least we can be thankful for Heidi Klum – and her unfortunate choices. Because lately on the red carpet, she’s become the gift that just keeps on giving.  Continue reading “Oscars Red Carpet Breakdown”

The 69th BAFTA awards took place on Sunday night and while the prestigious British awards show is usually a pretty accurate predictor of who will win the Oscar at the end of the month, the BAFTAs this year were about one thing only – Cate Blanchett’s incredible McQueen gown. That is one fancy dress. More on Blanchett and some of the night’s other notable looks, below.  Continue reading “Cate Blanchett Steels the Show at the BAFTAs”

American Music Awards (aka The Jennifer Lopez Show)

Since the show first began in 1973, the American Music Awards have always taken a back seat to the Grammys. And this year wasn’t much different. Many of music’s biggest stars were absent and while I’ve seen a lot more exciting red carpets, there were still a few fashion highlights. Thankfully Jennifer Lopez, who hosted the show, changed 11 times throughout the night. No shocker there – I’m honestly surprised she kept it down to 11. Lopez is always fun to watch because few stars make as much of an effort as much she does. She gives new meaning to “Hostess with the Mostess” ( easy I know). More on the some of the night’s most talked about looks below.
