Calgary is soon to get a little fancier. Nordstrom, the legendary American department store, is finally making its way across the border and it’s set to open its first Canadian store in Calgary on Friday, September 19th. And many fashion loving Calgarians couldn’t be happier and more excited.
Because it’s the retail giant’s first venture outside the U.S., they’re doing a excellet job of getting out in the community and making themselves a respected part of the city. As part of their efforts to get to know fashion loving Calgarians, they enlisted top blogger and photographer (and my friend) Ania Boniecka and her husband, photographer Tyler Stalman, to shoot 100 people in Calgary for a very cool and unique campaign featuring stylish Calgarians in various parts of the city. I was super flattered and excited when Ania asked me and my mom to take part. I felt so fancy!
Ania and Tyler, a super talented duo who do a lot to bring attention to and promote Calgary’s fashion scene, selected and photographed a wide range of locals, including individuals, couples and families, with unique style they felt represented Calgary’s increasingly interesting and stylish flair. The innovative and community focused campaign launched earlier this month online. In addition to Ania and Tyler’s photography project, Nordstrom’s website also has a “Meet your neighbours” feature, where a few select super stylish individuals discuss their style and what they love about Calgary.
Nordstrom is having their opening gala on September 17 and it’s sure to be a fun and fancy party, where one can check out their new digs. Following the opening of Calgary’s location will be locations in Ottawa (March, 2015), Vancouver (Fall 2015) and Toronto (Fall 2016).
