Golden Globes 2018
Nicole Kidman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Margo Robbie and Zoe Kravitz at the 2018 Golden Globes.

This year’s Golden Globes red carpet was unlike any other. Nearly all attendees wore black and it made for a powerful statement standing in solidarity with #TimesUp to protest discrimination and sexual harassment against women. While the ladies were for the first time ever all in the same colour on the red carpet, they still added their own stylistic touch and stood out in their own unique way. Because this year’s silent protest was for an important cause, a typical red carpet review doesn’t seem appropriate so I’ve included the looks I thought stood out the most.

A gown that clearly belongs in a museum with this incredible lace embellishment at the bodice and down the back, it was perfectly paired with Fred Leighton jewelry.

Once again Ellis Ross is the coolest in Marc Jacobs from head to toe, including a satin turban. Fun side note, she wore jogger pants underneath. See, the coolest!

Margot Robbie in Custom Gucci

Robbed wowed in this intricate long-sleeve crystal embellished Gucci gown.

Loved how Kravitz and her stylist accessorized this chic black column gown with incredible Lorraine Schwartz emerald drop earrings.

Kerry Washington in Prabal Gurung

Loved the vibe and energy of this strapless, sequined gown with a high slit. The boots were super cool too.

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

This Versace gown with feather trim reminded me of Joan Collins in my favourite style era – Dynasty in the 1980s. So naturally I was a fan.

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive

The silver-beaded back made this gown elegantly chic is its simplicity.

Catherine Zeta-Jones in Zuhair Murad

Zeta-Jones looked ageless and beautiful in this sheer embroidered gown and those emerald earrings were also incredible.

Viola Davis in Brandon Maxwell

Davis shined (no pun intended) in this classic style column gown with a multi-strand Harry Winston diamond necklace.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Monse

This custom sequin top and shoulder-duster earrings were especially cool on Gyllenhaal who’s always an original on the red carpet.

Saoirse Ronan in custom Atelier Versace

Simpler and more tailored than we typically see with Versace, the dress suited the young, talented and charming Ronan – and the feeling of the evening.

Naomi Campbell in Jean-Paul Gaultier

One of the original 1990’s supermodels, Campbell was elegant and refined is this unique column gown with an asymmetrical neckline.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Dolce & Gabbana

The stylish start looked fun and timeless in this black cocktail dress with satin and tulle detailing.

Cheers to everyone who chose to stand together and make such an impactful statement!  Stay tuned for more red carpet recaps to come. Award season has officially begun! Thanks for reading.
