Fancy earrings are a great way to dress up any outfit and they’re perfect for adding some drama to any party look. While browsing through Barneys.com this week (I’m always on the hunt for cool & fancy jewels) I discovered a jewellery line called Fenton. And since party season is fast approaching, I’m sure glad I did. The line is glamorous, shiny and cool. Designer Dana Lorenz started Fenton in 2006 after working for some major design houses like Gucci and Donna Karan. Her designs quickly grew a following and she now sells her work in prestigious stores like Barneys and Collette. Made of crystals and brass (which keeps the cost down), her designs are glamorous statement pieces that are sure to get noticed. After the success of Fenton, Lorenz started another jewellery line called Fallon, a slightly lower priced collection with a bit more of an edge.

Both lines are popular with the fashion crowd and are often featured in fashion editorials. Lorenz has also collaborated with hip ready-to-wear designers such as Thakoon and Proenza Schouler to create runway pieces for their lines and has done limited edition collections for stores such as Opening Ceremony and J.Crew.

Here’s what I like about Lorenz’s work – many of the pieces have an eighties glam quality, yet they’re modern at the same time. Her use of colour and shapes are exceptional and the prices are reasonable, particularly considering the quality of craftsmanship. In the photo above are the Black Crystal Weeping Earrings ($250), Crimson Crystal Spear Earrings ($225) and Gold Crystal Weeping Earrings ($250). Available at Barneys.com and Fentonusa.com.
