Cindy Crawford’s New Book – Becoming

Like many supermodel fans – and gays – I’ve been a huge fan of Cindy Crawford since I was a teenager. When I was in junior high, her photos and many Vogue covers covered my locker and bedroom walls. So I couldn’t have been more excited when Crawford announced releasing her new book Becoming (in anticipation of her upcoming 50^th birthday in February), which chronicles her legendary career as one of the original supermodels. 

Part coffee table book/part autobiography, the book highlights the many legendary photographers Cindy worked with over the years, including Irvin Penn, Helmut Newton, Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchelier and close friend Herb Ritts, among many others. She shares the lessons they taught her and how it helped shape her long and storied career. The relationships she formed with her fellow supermodels, including Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer (all of whom you should follow on Instagram), and how they rose to the top together, is also included.

To celebrate her iconic status, clothing line Reformation recently released a limited edition “Cindy Crawford” sweatshirt and it’s been spotted on numerous celebs, like Lena Dunham and Karlie Kloss recently. As soon as I saw a photo of Kloss wearing the top in NY, I had to have it. Then I posted the photo below on Instagram and the best thing in my life ever happened! CINDY CRAWFORD LIKED MY PHOTO! I almost died.

Crawford’s been on two-week book tour and has stepped up her style game looking as chic and beautiful as ever. I often say that Jane Fonda has singlehandedly changed the way we think of age but I think the same can be said of Cindy – she honestly doesn’t change! And that face – that face is a great face.
