Grammys Red Carpet Recap- Rihanna’s Bedazled Flask Wins the Night

Award season is in full swing with the Grammys taking place Sunday night. Obviously, the biggest story was the controversy over Adele winning Best Album, beating Beyoncé who many thought deserved to win for her critically praised album, Lemonade – including Adele. It was a charming moment when she broke her Grammy in half so she could share it with Beyoncé. I can’t say the red carpet this year was particularly exciting or that there was any one look we’ll remember for years to come (like Jennifer Lopez’s legendary plunging Versace in 2000). If I had to choose the night’s style winner, I’d probably go with Rihanna – but that’s mostly because of her brilliant bedazzled flaskContinue reading “Grammys Red Carpet Recap- Rihanna’s Bedazled Flask Wins the Night”

Mobilia’s New Collection Shines at the Interior Design Show

As a lover of all things fancy, I’m always giddy to check out the latest and greatest in interior design trends. So when the Interior Design Show (IDS) returns year after year to Toronto, I’m there. Recently back for its 19th year, IDS was the place to be for all design lovers. As always, the annual event showcased the best and latest in Canadian and international design, including an endless amount of chic and luxurious interior design trends. And the clear standout this year was the new Roaring Twenties-inspired collection by Mobilia created in collaboration with Canadian design personality Janette Ewen.  It’s legendary and I want everything.  Continue reading “Mobilia’s New Collection Shines at the Interior Design Show”

SAG Awards Red Carpet Recap

The 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild awards took place Sunday night. And similar to the Golden Globes, it’s always a fun red carpet to watch because the stars don’t feel as much pressure as they do at the Oscars so they take more risks. It was a politically charged night (no shocker there due to the frightening events happening right now south of the border) but many stars still had fun on the red carpet. Like Nicole Kidman – her green Gucci gown was everything. Continue reading “SAG Awards Red Carpet Recap”

Golden Globes Red Carpet Recap – Sequins, Metalics & Pharrel’s Beanie

Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood, Kerry Washington & Ruth Negga on the red carpet.

Year after year, the Golden Globes continue to be one of the best red carpets of the year. Everyone is so nervous at the Oscars, few are willing to take major chances and make brave style statements (except for Cate Blanchett of course). But I feel like stars are more relaxed at the Globes so they’re more comfortable wearing looks that express their personalities as opposed to having to abide by strict fashion rules. This year there were quite a few stellar looks. And during a year when the host (not Jimmy Fallon’s best moment) was less than memorable, we were lucky to have some amazingly good, and a couple of amazingly bad, looks to review. Here it goes… Continue reading “Golden Globes Red Carpet Recap – Sequins, Metalics & Pharrel’s Beanie”

Best Red Carpet Looks of 2016

best-dressed-2016
Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford, Charlize Theron and Sarah Paulson

It’s no secret 2016 was a rough year. For me, it was one full of changes, challenges and learning experiences. Although I haven’t had much time to post lately, I couldn’t miss my annual list of some of my favourite red carpet looks of the year. It may have been a shitty year for many but on a brighter and lighter note there were still some amazing red carpet looks. Cindy Crawford makes my list (of course) and once again Cate Blanchett gets several mentions. Here’s to a happier 2017!  Continue reading “Best Red Carpet Looks of 2016”

Canadian Designers Present Spring Summer 2017 Collections at Inaugural FashionCAN

Dramatic looks from Canadian designer Paul Hardy’s Spring Summer 2017 collection.

Thumbs up to Yorkdale and CAFA (Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards) for coming to the fashion rescue this week after Toronto Fashion Week was abruptly cancelled this past July. Yorkdale put on the first ever FashionCAN to give media, buyers and fashion lovers the opportunity to see the upcoming Spring Summer 2017 collections from many of their favourite Canadian designers, including Calgary’s Paul Hardy and Toronto’s Lucian Matis. And like we’ve scene from many international runway shows recently, the invitation-only event was live streamed so those that didn’t get an invite could see the show live as it was happening.  Continue reading “Canadian Designers Present Spring Summer 2017 Collections at Inaugural FashionCAN”

Emmys 2016 Red Carpet Recap

Fall awards season began with the Emmys as the best in TV was celebrated on Sunday night. There were some stellar and memorable looks but I felt like overall, the red carpet was missing the kind of excitement that happened back in the days when Sarah Jessica Parker would show up in something amazing (when Sex and the City was on HBO). The vibe this year was generally lacking. If only my gal Jane Fonda showed up. She makes every red carpet better. Now on to the fashion recap… Continue reading “Emmys 2016 Red Carpet Recap”

MTV VMAs Recap – Beyoncé, Rihanna And Naomi’s Lipstick

MTV
Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell and Britney Spears at the 2016 MTV VMAs.

The MTV VMAs took place Sunday night and this year was especially good. Even though Britney Spears performed at the notorious award show for the first time in nine years (after that disastrous performance in 2007) and Kanye West had four minutes on stage to talk about whatever he wanted,  it was Beyonce’s and Rihanna’s appearances (and outfits) that got everyone excited. The two biggest pop stars in the world don’t show up to every award show so when they do, you know they’re going to kill it. Because they never disappoint. And when it comes to style and presence, these are two powerhouses that always bring it 100%. Now to the night’s most talk about looks.  Continue reading “MTV VMAs Recap – Beyoncé, Rihanna And Naomi’s Lipstick”

Stars And Supermodels Get FANCY at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival brings major excessive and lavish fashion to the red carpet like no other. Year and year, Dynasty and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1980s always seem to be sources of inspiration. Supermodels are also prevalent on the red carpet at Cannes. Whether it’s Cindy Crawford in 2013 or Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner this year, the world’s top models always bring it in terms of making a stylish impact on the red carpet and they help take the glamour factor to the next level on the French Riviera. Here’s a breakdown one some of the most talked about looks at Cannes this year.  Continue reading “Stars And Supermodels Get FANCY at Cannes”

Met Gala 2016 – CINDY CRAWFORD Shines!

Once again, the Met Gala – fashion industry’s biggest night of the year – did not disappoint. It’s THE fashion party of the year and the one everyone strives to attend (except of course miss eye-roll herself, Gwyneth Paltrow). The beyond prestigious annual event marks the grand opening of the Met Costume Institute’s spring exhibition. This year’s theme being “Manus X Machina; Fashion in the age of technology.” While many stars are clever in how they interpret the theme year after year, some are far from it. This year we saw a lot of silver robotic-like gowns – but one fashion icon (looking at you Cindy) definitely stood out from the rest. Read on for my thoughts on many of the night’s most talked about ensembles.  Continue reading “Met Gala 2016 – CINDY CRAWFORD Shines!”
