Lapel Pins For Fancy Dudes

Casey Wagar
Sporting my custom hand-made floral lapel pin from my friends at Ensemble Style.

Men have so many more options these days in terms of expressing themselves through how they dress – and accessorize. While I’ve always been a huge fan of men’s accessories, lately I have a new found interest in lapel pins. And they seem to be growing in popularity because we’re seeing a lot more of them.  Continue reading “Lapel Pins For Fancy Dudes”

Leather Together With Canadian Designer Kat Marks

My “FANCY” personalized luggage tag made with Kat Marks.

Recently I was invited by popular Canadian leather designer Kat Marks to spend an intimate evening (charmingly dubbed “Leather Together”) with a group of bloggers and local influencers to create custom leather luggage tags. During the two hour private workshop, Marks led us through the process of making our own personalized luggage tag, under her careful guidance and watchful eye. She provided detailed step-by-step instructions on how to create our leather souvenirs and customize them so they suited each of our personalities. I embossed mine with “FANCY.” Obviously.

Many of the world’s top supermodels (dubbed the ‘new supers’ and the ‘Instagirls‘) descended on Paris fashion week for Atelier Versace’s fall 2015 couture show. Versace’s gang of supermodels, including Lara Stone, who opened the show, Jamie Bochert, Fei Fei Sun, Doutzen Kroes, Joan Smalls, Anja Rubik, Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss, shined as they walked down a runway made of 26,000 orchids underneath glass panels.  Continue reading “The ‘New Supers’ At Atelier Versace Fall Couture”

Holt Renfrew Kicks Off Calgary Stampede With Holts Hats Off

Holts Hats Off
Some of the chic Stampede looks on the magenta runway for the western-inspired fashion show.

In anticipation of this year’s Calgary Stampede, Holt Renfrew recently held its second annual Holts Hats Off event by teaming up with a super impressive group of talented Canadian designers to benefit the Calgary Health Trust. Designers, including Anzie, my good buddy Dean Davidson, Mackage, Tanya Taylor (who’s so lovely and now based in NYC), Ron White, Naked & Famous and Marie Saint Pierre, created one-of-a-kind Smithbilt cowboy hats to be auctioned during the private charity shopping event. This year, the live auction was hosted by Etalk’s Ben Mulroney, who charmed the crowd and helped raise a considerable amount for charity.  Continue reading “Holt Renfrew Kicks Off Calgary Stampede With Holts Hats Off”

Alykhan Velji’s enviable table setting at Dinner by Design – it was a stunner.

After successful events in Toronto and Vancouver, Monogram Dinner by Design made its debut in Calgary last week in the main lobby of ACAD. The unique event – the brain child of The Social Concierge, highlights well known and respected interior designers, decorators and other members of the design community by bringing them together to create incredible three-dimensional dinning installations.  Seven talented local designers, including Alykhan Velji, Connie Young and Amanda Hamilton, created lavish and elaborate one-of-a-kind custom dinning spaces. And they were beyond fancy.  Continue reading “Designer Dining At Monogram Dinner by Design”

A Man Can Never Have Too Many Bow Ties

A favourite bow tie – a custom patent leather creation handmade by designer Kat Marks.

Bow ties for men are a wardrobe essential. Like plaid shirts. And bracelets. No longer meant for only formal wear, bow ties suit many different looks – from super casual to dapper. Big events, work, dinners out or brunch with friends – there are bow ties for every occasion. These days, a stylish guy can even wear one with a cool shirt and shorts. And they look great with a plaid shirt and jeans. Because, why not?  Continue reading “A Man Can Never Have Too Many Bow Ties”

Over 700 well-dressed guests, including fashion lovers, artists, bloggers and local influencers enjoyed a night full of fashion, art and creativity. Best Dresses At 2015 Cannes Film Festival

Cannes 2015
Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong’o and Julianne Moore glamourous at Cannes.

Like the Oscars and the Met Gala, the red carpet at Cannes has an aesthetic quality unique to the event – basically unbelievably expensive and opulent clothes. When it comes to fashion and jewels, there’s no subtlety on the French Rivera. Now that the year’s most over-the-top excessive film festival has wrapped, it’s once again time to look back on the dozens of incredibly fancy and opulent looks. Many stars blew me away with their gowns but there were a couple that were surprisingly underwhelming. I guess there’s always next year.

Unexpected Bridal Looks On CTV Morning Live

Casey Wagar CTV Morning Live
Top Calgary model and personal shopper Amber Conrad stuns in Marchesa on CTV Morning Live with host Aisling Tomei.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of appearing on CTV Morning Live with the lovely Aisling Tomei to discuss and showcase some fancy and cool alternative looks for brides. We discussed how it’s no longer always about the big formal white wedding down. For the segment, we were lucky enough to feature an Italian lace Pink Tartan suit and a Michael Kors Collection sheath dress from Holt Renfrew, and a lovely Rachel Gilbert sleeveless dress with a hi/low hemline and an incredible Marchesa ‘Peony’ strapless silk cocktail dress from Ette. We also featured jewellery and accessories from both Ette and Rubaiyat – two of the most beautiful independent boutiques in Calgary.  Check out the full segment hereContinue reading “Unexpected Bridal Looks On CTV Morning Live”
