SAGs
Emma Stone in Dior Haute Couture, Lupita Nyong’o in Elie Saab, Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani and Julia Roberts in Givenchy

The stars turned up on the red carpet again Sunday night at the 2015 SAG Awards, which is generally considered the most likely predictor of the Oscars. In terms of the red carpets looks, the night was relatively tame – and not overly exciting – but there were a few notable style standouts. Lupita Nyong’a was back on top of her style game and Emma Stone once again killed it. Next is the BAFTAs on February 8 and then the one they all care about the most (even though they say they don’t), the Oscars on February 22 – less than a month away!

Emma Stone in Dior Haute Couture

Definitely one of the best of the night. Stone is now two for two. This was a killer look. It was fresh and exciting but also somewhat restrained. Love the idea of the sheer skirt with the tuxedo blazer. It was sexy and chic and had a vintage Yves Saint Laurent vibe. She just gets it. And seems like she has fun with fashion too. The lipstick was also perfect. Can’t wait to see what she’s going to rock at the Oscars. You know it’ll be unconventional and awesome.

My other favourite of the night. It’s modern, slightly edgy but it’s also pretty and feminine. There’s a lot going on but it worked. And I loved the way it moved. Nyong’o consistently makes interesting choices and  she gives fashion followers exactly what they want – something to talk about. And she always wears her red carpet looks them beautifully and confidently. Later in the evening she changed into a similar version of the same dress but one better suited for a party (well played). It’s always refreshing to see Nyong’o on the red carpet. She also gets it.

Julianne Moore in Givenchy

A pretty dress and the emerald green is such a great colour on the talented actress (it reminded me of the legendary green Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche gown she wore to the Oscars in 2003) but there was something about it I didn’t love. Maybe it was the cut of the neckline. Or the silhouette. It wasn’t half as amazing as the metallic and feather embellished Givenchy gown she wore to the Globes. But I know she’s going to do something incredible for the Oscars. It’s totally going to be her night.

Julia Roberts in Givenchy

21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

Much better than the pink Valantino jumpsuit she wore last year to the SAG awards. And it didn’t surprise me she wore Givenchy since she’s staring in their new Spring campaign. I love the way the top half fit but didn’t think the bottom half worked as well. Either the pants were too long or the shoes weren’t high enough. And those shoes were all sorts of wrong with the outfit. Out of all the Givenchy shoes she and her stylist could have chosen, why these? But her hair sure looked great. And the diamond cuff was incredible.

 Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani

Reese Witherspoon

“I am an U.S. CITIZEN!” “Do you know my name?!” That’s what I always think about when I see Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet. The drunken tirade she went on when her husband was arrested for drinking and driving and she was arrested for disorderly conduct in 2013. But I digress. This is about her dress. And it was OK. It fit her nicely – and it was also super safe. Like, there was nothing objectionable about it but it wasn’t exciting and looked like a dress you’d see on the wife of a conservative politician. But the ponytail looked great.

Jennifer Aniston in vintage Galliano

Jennifer Aniston

I like that she chose vintage Galliano but she’s been doing a lot of this lately. We get it – you have nice boobs. And I especially didn’t like the necklace that was apparently a body chain. They’re never cool. But did you see the ring on her ring finger?! It’s massive.

Viola Davis in Max Mara

21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

Check out those earrings! The dress fit her beautifully. I thought it was more interesting than Witherspoon’s white Armani and suited Davis well. And love that she went with her natural hair rather than a wig. She owned the look.

Keira Knightley in Erdem

Erdem is one of the most interesting lines out there so doesn’t surprise me that Knightley would be a fan. This isn’t my favourite but I think it works and isn’t nearly as out there as some of her resent red carpet looks (like the custom Chanel gown at the Globes).

Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan Atelier

TNT's 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

We’ve said this time and time again for a few years now and the same applies here. Vergara always wears the exact same dress. It’s same curve hugging long silhouette. Nothing changes. She’s stunning, sexy and funny and it would be nice her try a look with as much personality as she has.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Monique Lhuillier

TNT's 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

I thought this was a super elegant and feminine dress. The black lace detail was soft and the cut of the dress fit the comedian perfectly. It was also slightly different from what we often see on Louis-Dreyfus, which was nice change. Plus she’s so funny and seems cool and down to earth.

Rosamund Pike in Dior

Torn on this one. It’s a polarizing look and definitely not for everyone. Some people loved it while others hated it. On the one hand, it was super artsy and dramatic, and on the other hand I’m not sure it was all that flattering. But I like that she took a chance and gave us something to talk about. Also, loved the hair and makeup. I think Pike’s taste is interesting and look forward to seeing more of her on the red carpet.

Naomi Watts in Balenciaga

TNT's 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Watts looked fancy. This would be a perfect dress to wear to one of those super fancy casinos in Monte Carlo. The kind where James Bond goes to in every movie where everyone is dressed to the nines and they’re all totally loaded. Can you see it?

Meryl Streep in a Lanvin

TNT's 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Streep is one of the few who can get away with something this simple. She is a living legend so she can do stuff like that.

Lenny Kravitz in Saint Laurent

Stylin’ dude. I’d love to wear this suit.

Joan Collins

TNT's 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

LEGEND. Does it get any more glamorous than this?! She’s seriously the real life Alexis Carrington. And check out those earrings. I loved them. She. Is. Fancy.
