Monochrome Prints – 3 Fancy Fall Party Looks

3 Dresses

Cool and interesting prints are huge for fall and a great way to interpret the trend is to go with monochrome prints. The black and white combo is a fashion staple. It’s modern, sleek and good looking. And monochrome prints are a perfect option for fall party dressing. With a number of events coming this fall, a few lovely ladies I know have been asking me for suggestions. Below are three similar DVF monochrome prints dresses and thoughts on how to wear them. Metallic Sneakers – Cool And Fancy

At my recent birthday party (that makes me sounds about 8 years old), a super stylish and lovely friend showed up in the coolest silver Saint Laurent sneakers. I’m a sucker for anything metallic and cool sneakers, and everything this friend wears is awesome so of course I loved them. It got me thinking about fancy sneakers and their growing popularity.  Continue reading “Metallic Sneakers – Cool And Fancy”

The New Fringe Bag – It’s Fun And Fancy

Last week, I found myself explaining to a friend how I’m really into fringe lately (you know you’re a fruit when…). There’s a casual and free-spirited vibe with fringe, often referred to as ‘boho chic’ that’s both fun and cool. And lately I’ve noticed a lot of stylish celebs rocking the fringe trend, especially fringe bags (as seen on Jennifer Lopez recently while shopping in NYC). After doing a little fashion research (obviously the best kind of research), I discovered a lot of luxury fashion brands are on top of the fringe bag trend – Chanel, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Valentino and Saint Laurent to name a few. Pink Is The New…Pink

Pink
Jennifer Lopez, Natalie Portman, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Jessica Parker and Solange Knowles all rocking pink in their own way

I’ve been noticing a lot of pink (particularly fuchsia and hot pink) lately in stores and on the red carpet. It’s one of those hues that pops up in a big way every few years and it’s back big time this summer. And it’s nice to see its return because I’ve always thought pink is a happy colour (and pretty gay too). And when done well, it’s also feminine and chic. Pink is also a great compliment colour in that it works really well when paired with other colours, especially neutrals like black and white, or denim. It’s also a lot more versatile than people think.  Continue reading “Pink Is The New…Pink”

All White Looks – A Clean Slate Trend That’s Soft, Fresh and Fancy

White
Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham – all wearing pure white in their own unique way

Solid white looks are definitely growing in popularity and for good reason. The clean slate trend is fresh, light and cool. There’s a also soft simplicity about the look that’s feminine but modern at the same time. An all white look also works for many different occasions and various levels of dressiness. The current trend for all white looks was especially evident recently at the Cannes Film Festival where numerous stars chose the light monochromatic look for both evening and more casual events during the day.  Continue reading “All White Looks – A Clean Slate Trend That’s Soft, Fresh and Fancy”

YSL’s “Le Smoking” is Classically Chic

Classically tailored pantsuits and tuxedo jackets are the quintessential combination of confidently chic and sexy. And few designers are doing it better than current Saint Laurent Creative Director, Hedi Slimane. His impeccably constructed tuxedo jackets and suits, which are showing up increasingly on the red carpet, are a testament to honouring the legacy of the brand’s namesake, the incomparable Yves Saint Laurent. Gold Shoes Are Fancy

Picture1

I love metallic shoes and I feel like silver pointy toed heels have been popular for a while now but gold shoes are every bit as fancy – if not more. And they’re great way to dress up almost any outfit for spring. Gold shoes totally have an Alexis Carrington quality to them. And it doesn’t get much fancier than Joan Collins in Dynasty. There’s something sexy and confident about gold shoes. They’re glamorous and powerful looking. And they can work for both day and night. Remember how awesome Carrie Bradshaw in the white Halton jersey dress and the gold sparkly Louboutin’s (top left photo) in the opening scene of Sex and the City 2? That was a pretty memorable look.  Continue reading “Gold Shoes Are Fancy”

7 Things We Can Learn From Jennifer Connelly’s Awesome Spring Look

jennifer-connelly1

Jennifer Connelly has been looking incredible so far while promoting her new movie – her stylist is totally nailing it. While attending the Madrid premiere of the epic ‘Noah’, she wore a beautiful and super chic Giambattista Valli Couture mint green long sleeve mini dress with embossed leaves. It was adorned with a fancy ruby coloured embroidered neckline that gave the illusion if a striking statement necklace. She kept the rest of the look relatively simple with a side part and pony tail, dark fuchsia lips and nude ankle strap sandals. Fancy Polka Dots for Spring

Dolce
Polka dots at Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection

Now that it’s spring and it’s finally started to warm up, we’re hearing a lot about spring trends. And one that seems to pop up every few years is polka dots, which are pretty much perennially cool. The pattern experienced a huge resurgence in the 80s and we’ve being seeing it periodically ever since. Dolce & Gabbana has been known to frequently use polka dots in their shows and included the pattern again in their Spring 2014 collection. Christopher Bailey also included a few polka dot looks in Burberry Prorsum’s Spring collection and Lena Dunham sported Burberry’s bold red and white polka dot shirt on the cover last month’s Vogue. Saint Laurent’s Classic Monogramme YSL Collection – It’s Fancy

YSL2

When Hedi Slimane was introduced as the new Creative Director at Yves Saint Laurent in 2012, he made some bold moves to rebrand the company. One of those controversial changes included moving away from the company’s classic interlocking YSL logo (first introduced in the 1960s) and replacing it with Saint Laurent Paris in simple white block font lettering. Well, loyal fans can rejoice because Saint Laurent now has a full line of accessories, including handbags, clutches, wallets and a few pieces of jewellery, called the Classic Monogramme Collection, showcasing the brand’s original YSL logo (I need the silver ring!). It was a smart move because the pieces are awesome. And fancy. Continue reading “Saint Laurent’s Classic Monogramme YSL Collection – It’s Fancy”
