Well shopping fans, the day is almost here. Nordstrom is set to open their first international store tomorrow. And fashion loving Calgarians (including moi) are thrilled. And for good reason. Lately we’ve seen more and more luxury stores enter the Canadian market but Nordstrom’s new Chinook Centre location is causing buzz unlike others. And if their clever marketing campaign and last night’s awesome opening gala (a benefit for Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and United Way of Calgary) are any indication of what we can expect of the retail giant, Calgary is in for something very cool.  Continue reading “Nordstrom + Calgary = Love” →

Thousands of party goers will be attending Dîner en Blanc tonight in Calgary. And like last year, the huge chic picnic is sure to be a night to remember. But because the event stipulates that all guests must wear white, it can be hard for some to find something original but still stylish to wear. Nordstrom’s Fancy “Hello, Calgary – We Like Your Style” Campaign

Calgary is soon to get a little fancier. Nordstrom, the legendary American department store, is finally making its way across the border and it’s set to open its first Canadian store in Calgary on Friday, September 19th. And many fashion loving Calgarians couldn’t be happier and more excited.

Because it’s the retail giant’s first venture outside the U.S., they’re doing a excellet job of getting out in the community and making themselves a respected part of the city. As part of their efforts to get to know fashion loving Calgarians, they enlisted top blogger and photographer (and my friend) Ania Boniecka and her husband, photographer Tyler Stalman, to shoot 100 people in Calgary for a very cool and unique campaign featuring stylish Calgarians in various parts of the city. I was super flattered and excited when Ania asked me and my mom to take part. Canadian fashion designer Paul Hardy has always come up with cool and interesting ways to bring attention to his creations and his unique design aesthetic, while at the same time placing focus on Calgary’s fashion scene. In 2012, the well-known and respected Calgary-based designer brought attention to the city when he celebrated his 10th anniversary and held a legendary weekend-long celebration where fashion insiders from across the country came to Calgary to help celebrate. Tanya Taylor Presents Spring 2014 Collection in Calgary

New York based designer Tanya Taylor came to Calgary this past weekend for a private preview of her spring 2014 collection – which received glowing reviews at New York Fashion Week last month. Local media, bloggers and buyers enjoyed an intimate setting Saturday evening where the collection was on display throughout the beautiful home where the event was held. Taylor’s collection for spring 2014 was light, fresh and reflected her impressive artistic flair. The combination of organza and painted fabrics were interesting and unique. Crayola-like colours were also carefully incorporated throughout. Dean Davidson Trunk Show at Holts

Sliced CuffMy good buddy Dean Davidson is having a truck show at Holts during December. And I was supper flattered that he asked me to go and represent the line and talk about the pieces yesterday. It was fun to chat with all the jewellery sales associates about the specifics of the line and talk about every piece in detail. It was awesome – I felt like I was totally in my element. Dean’s line is modern, dramatic and super good looking. His latest collection was influenced by his love of architecture. Rubaiyat at Christmas – A Fancy Holiday Shopping Spot

Rubaiyat in Calgary is hands down, without a doubt, no questions asked, one the best stores in Canada. The store itself is stunning and everything in it is totally awesome. Not only do they have one of the best selections of jewellery in the country, they also have an incredible collection of art glass, indoor and out door furnishings, wall art, pewter and, as my very fancy Nana used to say, “objet d’art” (works of art with artistic merit).
