Versus Versace’s Spring 2015 Collection – How To Rock A Similar Look

Versus
Versus Versace Spring 2015 collection at NYFW

Donatella Versace has stepped up her game and wisely partnered up with Anthony Vaccarello for Vesus Versace’s Spring 2015 collection at NYFW. And although Versus is Versace’s secondary, more youthful inspired line, the clothes for Spring 2015 felt grown up and wearable (for the most part), more so than what we’ve come to expect from Versace’s signature collection. Many of the pieces, including strapless dresses paired with long blazers (above), well-cut pant suits belted at the waist and long sleeve shirt dresses, were chic and still hinted at Versace’s unapologetic sexy vibe without being too over-the-top or campy.  Continue reading “Versus Versace’s Spring 2015 Collection – How To Rock A Similar Look”

Models Cover Vogue’s September Issue – Finally!

Vogue’s September Issue with Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss

Like many other fashion lovers, the September issue of American Vogue has long been the magazine’s most highly anticipated issue of the year. When I was younger, my wonderful dad bought me a copy of Vogue every month and he was always especially excited to give me Vogue’s September issue because he knew how excited I’d be to get it, which of course I was. You know you’re a fruit when…

Carine Roitfeld’s Icons for Harper’s Bazaar – “Unmistakable, unforgettable, always in fashion”

Eeeeek! Nothing excites me more than when the 90s supers show up again. And Harper’s Bazaar’s September issue is making it happen. Because my girls are back. The well respected fashion magazine asked super talented stylist Carine Roitfeld to select and style an awesome lineup of legendary faces for a portfolio titled “Icons” – and it’s fancy. Beauties featured in the 17-page piece include Lady Gaga, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford (looking better than ever in Tom Ford and demonstrating that a sequin pencil skirt is a must for fall), Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Brook Shields, , Iman, Lauren Hutton, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Penelope Cruz and more.  Continue reading “Carine Roitfeld’s Icons for Harper’s Bazaar – “Unmistakable, unforgettable, always in fashion””

It Doesn’t Get Much Fancier Than Chanel Haute Couture

Chanel
Some impressive designs at Chanel’s Fall 2014 Haute Couture collection

Haute Couture is fancy. And just over 10 years ago, it almost disappeared altogether as more and more designers quit doing their couture collections. In 2002, the 150 year-old tradition (dating back to the 1860s) was considered pretty much out of vogue and critics began to call it irrelevant when Yves Saint Laurent famously held his last couture show. After that, more and more designers began to stop doing Haute Couture. But due to a surprisingly growing market in recent years, because of some major foreign investment, it seems to be back and is practically thriving. In fact, the Haute Couture calendar in Paris has recently grown from 3 to 5 days and an increasing amount of young designers have started doing couture collections. Good news for fancy fashion lovers – and fancy fruits like moi. Continue reading “It Doesn’t Get Much Fancier Than Chanel Haute Couture”

Jennifer Lopez Gets Fancy With David Gandy

Even though I rarely pay attention to Jennifer Lopez’s music (does anyone?), I’m generally always pretty entertained by her videos. Because she does glamorous and sexy well. And she knows how to play it up. In her latest video, for her new single “First Love”, she stars alongside the biggest male model today, the super sexy David Gandy. She pretty much only wears a super tight white batting suit throughout the video – and she looks awesome. Of course, so does he. While the song isn’t anything special, she makes it for it with the video. It’s pretty hot. Continue reading “Jennifer Lopez Gets Fancy With David Gandy”

Fancy Safari Chic at Balmain

Balmain
Balmain Fall 2014 at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week has totally been killing it – more exciting and inspiring than the fashion weeks in New York, London and Milan. I was a little underwhelmed with all three of them. Like, I wasn’t even totally in love with Tom Ford’s fall collection, which was a rarity for me. But Paris Fashion Week has been awesome, and there are so many important shows still to come. One of my favourite Paris collections so far was Balmain. Olivier Rousteing showed a safari inspired collection with a fancy urban twist and one that seemed to embrace different cultures.  Continue reading “Fancy Safari Chic at Balmain”

Rodarte – Best of NYFW Fall 2014

Group

Fashion week is in full force and one of the most talked about collections so far is sure to be Rodarte. After a somewhat disappointing spring 2014 collection, the Mulleavy sisters delivered a solid fall collection featuring a lot ‘cool’ clothes that are sure to grow their following. Although some of the patch work pieces weren’t my favourite and the knee high nylons looked like they were inspired by Little Edie (and solely for the runway), the sisters designed a collection of mostly wearable clothes by referencing a significant time in their past. “Kate…Naomi…Cindy…Twiggy!” – Supermodel Dance

Lena Dunham covers the February issue of Vogue – the anticipated photos were recently released – and as part of the subsequent online promotion, Vogue released an original short, featuring Dunham and well respected Vogue editor Hamish Bowles, called “Cover Girl.” In the video, Bowles teaches Dunham how to pose for her editorial by demonstrating some of the most famous supermodel poses that appeared in the magazine over the years. It’s charming. It’s short. And it’s about the most legendary supermodel legends ever. Enjoy.

“We’re gonna take it from the top, we’re going to look back at the legends, and we’re going to find you a pose.” My new favourite line.

Cowboys and Controversy at Chanel’s Pre-Fall Show in Dallas

Chanel_010_1366.450x675

Last year, it was fancy plaid at a castle in Edinburgh. And for this year’s Pre-Fall show (a couple of weeks ago), Karl Lagerfeld chose to show in Dallas, apparently as a thank you to Texas-based Neiman Marcus for supporting the fashion house after WWII. It was an American and western inspired collection presented in a barn-like setting reminiscent of a vintage rodeo. The collection consisted of pieces resembling fancy cowboys and cowgirls, but also included Native American inspired headdresses, which proved to be somewhat controversial. Chanel later released a statement saying that the collection was a tribute to the cultures that are such an important part of Texas history and apologized if it offended anyone.  Continue reading “Cowboys and Controversy at Chanel’s Pre-Fall Show in Dallas”

Kate Moss Is Fancy In Playboy & The Gays Will Love It

The photos from the highly anticipated 60 anniversary issue of Playboy featuring Kate Moss have finally hit the web and they don’t disappoint – the photos are chic, sexy and cool. Shot by well respected photographers Mert & Marcus, Moss wears the iconic Playboy bunny costume like no one has before. When it was first announced that Moss would pose for the special anniversary issue, some insiders were surprised but it was obvious that the highly buzzed about shoot would be of higher quality than what’s typically depicted in the long standing men’s magazine. And not surprisingly, the layout has an artistic quality that we’ve come to expect from fashion shoots involving the legendary supermodel.  Continue reading “Kate Moss Is Fancy In Playboy & The Gays Will Love It”
